On 11 November at 11 a.m., the Montreal chapter of Federal Retirees joined the community of the Royal Military College of Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu to pay tribute to those who served Canada with courage and dedication.
Under snowy skies, in an atmosphere of respect and contemplation, civilian and military representatives, veterans, officer cadets and citizens gathered to remember. On behalf of our branch, I had the honour of laying a wreath alongside many dignitaries and veterans. Together, we observed a moment of silence to honour the memory of those who gave their lives and to show our solidarity with veterans and their families.
This day reminds us that the freedom and peace we enjoy today are the fruits of immense sacrifice.
